Compare Differences: Vitamix Ascent Series vs Legacy Series

Although the dimension of Vitamix Ascent Series is the same as Vitamix Legacy 7500, its base, lid and container are about 1/4” shorter at 17¼”. The Ascent cord length is 4 feet instead of 6 feet of Legacy and both can stow the cord by wrapping it at the bottom, keeping it out of sight. The minimum speed of Ascent is slightly slower at 1,400 RPM compared to 1,600 RPM of Legacy. As opposed to the speed of Vitamix Legacy 7500 that increases evenly across full range, turning the knob of Vitamix Ascent Series builds the speed from gradual to quick. Legacy has a softer start at 2.4 second compared to the 1.8 second of Ascent Series, which makes its high speed pulsing more effective.

The 64-oz container of Vitamix Ascent Series weighs about 4% more than Vitamix Legacy 7500 and without its lid the container is ¼” taller. The pour spout of Ascent Series is also slightly different. Vitamix Ascent Series has physical switches and the variable speed dial is bigger with more clearly visible numbers than Vitamix Legacy 7500. The rubber centering pad that Vitamix Ascent Series assembled on has more curves, it’s more stylish and the top is not perfectly leveled like the Vitamix Legacy 7500. It slopes away from the hole in the centre that drains liquid overspills on the top of the pad off the sides instead of on the motor in the middle. Vitamix Legacy 7500 container does not rock but it doesn’t have the advantage of the liquid draining off the sides either.

Vitamix Legacy 7500 does not have NFC tag because of which its containers cannot be used on Vitamix Ascent Series. The Ascent full-size containers (not the wider one) can be used on a Legacy machine base. The centering posts on Vitamix Ascent Series are different, which prevents the usage of 20-oz and 8-oz containers on Vitamix Legacy 7500. The screw-on blade assembly of Vitamix Ascent Series has an NFC chip with a magnetic reed switch, which activates the NFC chip only when the container is screwed on properly, which prevents tedious locking devices that Legacy model has.
